Rice Cereal!

At our 4 month well-baby visit, our doctor told us we could start trying some cereal. So we did...but we might as well have given him a spoon full of vinegar by the look on his face! I kept trying for about a week, but he still didn't have much interest in it--until today! I mixed it up and sat Landon in his Bumbo (I love that thing!) and tied a bib around his neck. I put a little in a spoon and shoved it in his mouth, fully expecting it to come right back out...but it didn't! He seemed to actually enjoy it! In a few short moments, he had eaten the entire bowl! Here's a little video and a smile at the end to prove it! :)

Joy of the Jumperoo!!

Landon has been a strong baby from birth (the extra two weeks inside didn't hurt I guess). He has loved standing upright from about two months old and now enjoys stomping with one foot (we call this the "bull dance")and jumping up and down on our laps. He gets so excited and he stiffens his legs and then suddenly bends his knees and falls down! He just laughs and laughs! While this is highly entertaining for all involved, it's quite tiring as well. So, Josh and I decided that Landon needed a new way of entertaining himself...so I researched entertainers and bouncers and...voila! We drove over to Babies-R-Us and let Landon "try" a few out. I knew that I wanted something that would be stimulating and entertaining all at the same time, so we went with the Baby Einstein Jumper... At first, Landon didn't really know what to think of it...but now he loves it. He's just starting to get the hang of the bouncy thing. We have to keep a blanket in the seat behind him because he's still a little too skinny and unstable to sit by himself. Here's a little video of him playing...

Door Monogram

Here's my latest attempt at crafting...

I love the monogram look. I knew I wanted a cute monogram on either his wall or his door. I found the J at a consignment store back before we ever knew what his name would be...so since I knew his last name would definitely be Jones I decided to buy it. It was only a dollar (and the perfect shade of green)!

Once we named him, I kept on the look out for letters I liked that would be a bit smaller than the J. I finally found some this past weekend at Michael's. They were only a dollar each too! I did have to spray paint them black though-but fortunately we had a can in the garage! Hooray! The ribbon was on sale for 1.99, so my whole project ended up costing me 5 bucks!

Is it sad that I'm so proud of myself for this simple little project?
No.

Is it sad that that's the only thing I've had time to do in the last four months?
Um...Yes!

Giggling and Gaseous

I'm quite sure that most of you know how gassy this little Landon of ours has been. He just can't seem to grow out of it yet. Everyone says...he'll get better with time, just get to 2 months...just get to 3 months...just get to 4 months...ahhhhhhhh! We're already AT 4 months and it doesn't seem much better. We went for our 4 month well-baby visit yesterday and the conclusion about the gas is: "he'll grow out of it". When?? When he's 5 months? 5 years? 50?

On a more positive note, it seems my milk supply has increased--which is a blessing. Landon seems to be more satisfied after feedings now and is sleeping better for naps (when he's not rudely awoken by a GAS bubble or a blaring ambulance/motorcycle!). I think my milk has increased because: 1)an herbal supplement called Fenugreek (which I took for a while), 2) more frequent feedings, 3) a prescription drug called Reglan. I was not thrilled about taking a drug, but this one seems well-researched and safe for nursing mothers. Interestingly enough the drug was designed for stomach issues and increased milk production was just a side-effect! Imagine how shocked someone who wasn't lactating must have been when they discovered that! Ha! It makes me giggle.

Speaking of giggles...our little guy has started laughing! I first noticed his little giggle while I was changing his diaper (he loves being naked...uh-oh). I started blowing on his stomach and the next thing I knew he was almost cackling! It was too cute. By the time I got the video camera, he was not willing to do it anymore...but I'm sure it will eventually get captured on film! In the meantime, I'll take those little moments of laughter--it helps me get through the more frequent moments of screaming!

Sweet 16 (wks) Smile

So... maybe we're turning a corner. Maybe all that was wrong with this little dude is that he was hungry. He seems to be doing better with everything except bedtime and middle of the night wakings. It could be worse...it HAS been worse...and for now, I'll take the progress!

Yesterday we spent some time in a new bouncy seat that I bought for him. It's a "kick and play" and has sensors on the bottom that make lights and sounds happen when kicked. It's a great idea and so far he seems to love it! Here's a picture of him sitting in it. I snapped a great picture of him with my phone-purely accidental that his smile is so great!

Landon turned 16 weeks old yesterday...it's hard to believe that he is almost 4 months! Crazy!
